A woman in a blue shooting vest and cap aims a shotgun at an outdoor shooting range, with a man in the background similarly equipped but in red. They are both focused on their targets, indicating participation in a shooting competition.

The Clay Target Team club at Saint John’s University offers a way for high school athletes to continue competing and pursuing their passion for the sport while in college.

The team is a member of the USA College Clay Target League and competes in both a fall and spring season. The fall season runs from late September through early November, building to the USA Clay College National Championship. The spring season begins the first week of April and runs through mid-May.

Team members can choose to compete in either 5-Stand, Skeet Shooting, Trap Shooting or Sporting Clays. Practices are optional and student-athlete organized. Competitions are held on the weekends. The club’s home range is the Del-Tone Shooting Range in nearby St. Cloud – the premiere shooting range in Central Minnesota.

Any student enrolled at SJU who has a USA Clay-approved firearm safety certificate is eligible to participate.
