Multicultural Student Services
Multicultural Student Services empowers and educates students to intentionally develop mutually trusting and culturally agile relationships. We believe that learning to effectively navigate differences and new environments is an essential part of a liberal arts education. Our Inclusion Visioning Statement calls us to integrate this priority into all aspects of the life of the institutions. Our services are available to all Bennies and Johnnies, including graduate students.

International Students
There are more than 100 International students at CSB and SJU from 15 countries including The Bahamas, Brazil, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Japan, Macau, Poland, Hong Kong, Rwanda, Taiwan, Trinidad & Tobago, and Vietnam. International Student Services supports international student success through student visa advising, programs that help promote cross-cultural adjustment, academic support, and peer mentors for all first-year Bennies and Johnnies!
International students have contributed to and continue to contribute to our school’s diverse atmosphere through their research, campus engagement, and leadership. Through participation in the various events on our campuses, international students are given the opportunity to present aspects of their own culture while experiencing another. This enhances the cultural experience for every student at CSB and SJU.
Gender & Sexuality – QPLUS
The Queer Proud Lavendar Union for Students – QPLUS (Q+) offers a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ students at CSB+SJU, including those who are not yet out or Questioning. Throughout the academic year, QPLUS hosts multiple events, including biweekly Come O.U.T meetings in the Lavender Lounge. Our organization provides opportunities for allies and those wanting to advocate better and support those in the Queer and Trans community on both campuses and in their everyday lives.
Students and community members are encouraged to attend our events to celebrate various parts of Queer culture, including the annual Spring Drag Show, National Coming Out Day, and international days of recognition, including Transgender Day of Remembrance and Transgender Day of Visibility. To keep up with the most up-to-date events and programming from QPLUS, follow us on Instagram and like us on Facebook!
First Generation College Students
Over 1/4 of Bennies and Johnnies identify as first-generation college students! CSB and SJU define a first-generation student as any student whose parents or guardians have not completed a four-year degree in the US.
The First-Generation Organization (FGO) is dedicated to celebrating and supporting first-generation students by offering proactive assistance, advice, guidance, and resources. FGO provides opportunities for connection and community building through the First-to-First Mentorship program, available to all first-year and second-year students. By attending FGO meetings and events, first-generation students have a space to connect with others, ensuring that they understand, persevere, and thrive throughout their college experience.
