Sport Stacking Club Constitution

Article I: Name and Purpose

Section 1: Name

The CSB/SJU Sport Stacking Club

Section 2: Purpose/Mission
To create a club where CSB/SJU students who enjoy cup stacking and participating in sport stacking tournaments can get together and practice, exchange information, and compete in tournaments.

Section 3: Affiliation

Article II: Membership

Section 1: Eligibility for Membership
Full membership with voting rights in the Sport Stacking Club is open to any CSB/SJU student. Non-students such as faculty or staff cannot be full members, but can still be non-voting, affiliate members

Section 2: Voting Member Criteria
To vote on issues pertaining to the CSB/SJU Sport Stacking Club, members must attend at least 5 meetings throughout the year.

Section 3: Removal of Members
Officers of the group will discuss the conduct of a member and vote to dismiss or not dismiss him/her accordingly. A two-thirds vote is required to be removed, in case of a tie; the club president's executive power is exercised.

Article III: Officers

Section 1: Officer Qualifications
To become an officer, you must be an active member for at least one semester.

Section 2: Elected Officers
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Trip Coordinator

Section 3: Duties of Officers
Preside at events and activities and events coordinated by the club, conduct themselves in agreement with the values of the CSB/SJU Sport Stacking Club

President:
Presides at meetings, calls special meetings, primary contact with the institutions, appoints committee chairs, runs the election process.

Vice President:
Assumes president's duties in his/her absence, schedule meetings, practice rooms, or facilities, primary contact with the JCB, other

Secretary:
Takes roll at the beginning of each meeting or event, record keeper, notifies members of meetings.

Treasurer:
Keeps all financial records, submits monthly audit statements to CFB contact, notifies organization of financial issues, prepares budget/allocation requests.

Equipment Manager:
Maintains all equipment and ensures equipment safety and proper storage. Is in charge of bringing cups and other equipment to meetings. Assists the treasurer if necessary.

Section 4: Vacancy in Office
If the president is unable to fulfill his duties as president, the vice president will assume his/her duties. A new vice president will then be elected. If the Vice president position becomes vacant, then one of the current officers will fill the role until a new vice president can be elected. For other officer positions, all active members will be encouraged to run and the most convenient form of voting (paper or electronic) will occur. The new officer is the person receiving the majority of the votes. In the case of a tie, the president receives the final say. If no active members choose to fulfill the position, the current officers will take over the role until a new officer is elected.

Section 5: Removal of Officers
To remove and officer the following must occur:

A petition to remove the officer must be submitted to the president or the highest officer not accused. The petition must have 20 signatures of active members. When a petition is filed, an emergency meeting of club officers will be assembled. A majority vote is required for removal. In case of a tie, the highest ranking official not in question receives the deciding vote.

Section 6: Appeal of Removal of Officers
The removed officer must file a petition within two weeks of his/her removal stating why he/she should be reinstated. Evidence must be provided supporting his/her claim and have 15 signatures of active club members. The officers then vote to reinstate the officer in question; a majority is required with the highest ranking official not in question receiving the deciding vote.

Article IV: Elections

Section 1: Nomination Process
Officer candidates can self-nominate. They must state their candidacy 2 weeks in advance of the proposed election date in order to qualify.

Section 2: Elections
The voting members of the club will vote during March for each position. The majority vote for each position wins. Voting can be done in whichever is more convenient (paper or electronic). If a problem occurs, the Student activities director will be asked to oversee the election process and ensure no corruption. If an officer tampers with the process, he/she will be removed from office immediately will no appeal process available. If a tie occurs in a specific position, current officers are tie breaker.  If a tie persists, the president receives the final say. Voting should be sone with a secret ballot process. Terms are for an entire academic year. Study abroad students can run for the semester they are not abroad, with the second place vote-getter holding the position in their absence.

Section 3: Special Elections
In case an elected position is not filled, an emergency meeting of the officers will be called to select an interim officer to fill the position as soon as possible. Then, at the next meeting an election will be held to determine the officer to fill the role permanently.

Article V: Advisor

Section 1: Selection
The advisor must be interested in the goals and purposes of the club. If an advisor is unable or unwilling to fulfill their duties as advisor, the officers will select a new advisor. A two-thirds vote is required.

Section 2: Duties
The advisor must support the officers and club members in their actions and goals. The advisor contract will deem the specific duties.

Article VI: Meetings

Section 1: Regular Meeting/Club Activities
Meetings will occur when the officers consider it appropriate. Meetings must occur at least once a month.

Section 2: Special Meetings
Special meetings will occur whenever the officers see a need for a special meeting.

Section 3: Paliamentary Authority
Meetings will be ruled and overseen by the officers

Section 4: Quorum
2/3 of the club must be present at meetings or elections for any significant changes or votes to occur.

Article VII: Committees

Section 1: Committee Structure
CSB/SJU Sport Stacking Club will not have any committees

Section 2: Special/Ad-Hoc Committees
Special/Ad-Hoc committees may be formed if necessary.

Article VIII: Finances

Section 1: Co-Funding Board
The CSB/SJU Sport Stacking club will apply for CFB monies and that if allocated resources, will follow all CFB and institutional regulations

Section 2: Honorariums
Officers and members will not receive honorariums from the club.

Article IX: Amendments

Section 1: Ratification
Proposed amendments to the constitution will follow the same process as elections, with a majority vote necessary to pass the amendment.

Section 2: Submittal to Department of Student Activities and Joint Club Board
Any changes made to this constitution will be submitted to the Department of Student Activities and the JCB.

Article X: Discrimination
The CSB/SJU Sport Stacking Club admits all students regardless of race, religion, color, sex, age, sexual orientation or national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and other activities, generally accorded or made available to members of the organization.

Article XI: Hazing
The CSB/SJU Sport Stacking Club considers hazing to be a degrading and destructive activity which is inconsistent with the standards of this student organization. The Sport Stacking Club recognizes the dignity of every person and opposes all forms of hazing.
