Homework Lab and Accounting Department Tutors

On Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, you can join an in-person homework lab with our department’s tutors. Feel free to stop in at any time from 7 to 9 p.m. You do not need to be there at 7, nor do you need to stay for two hours. Make the Homework Lab a tool to help you and your friends strengthen your understanding of the class material. Tutors are also working each day from roughly 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Simons Hall.

You can meet with them in-person or Zoom with them. If you wish to Zoom with a tutor, you should email the tutors first so that they can open the Zoom meeting. You can also reach out to the department’s tutors to arrange for individual Zoom tutoring sessions outside of posted hours.

The tutors are available to students free of charge.

CPA Exam Information

Passing the CPA exam is an important step in one’s career. Information regarding the exam contents can be found at AICPA Exam Contents.

Each state is responsible for setting rules regarding CPA licensure requirements and eligibility requirements to sit for the CPA exam. Search for the Board of Accountancy or CPA Society in your state via a search engine.

For the state of Minnesota, see the Minnesota Society of CPA website. In the section titled “Become a CPA”, you will find links to CPA exam information and application procedures to sit for the exam. Note that you should allow two to four weeks from the date you send your application for processing.

CPA Review and Preparation

Using a review course, whether in person, online, or via self-study books, CDs and other materials, can definitely aid in passing the CPA exam. If you become a member of the Minnesota Society of CPA’s (cost of $25), you receive a significant discount on a number of CPA review courses.
