Tonya Schmidt

Tonya Schmidt is an assistant adjunct professor of accounting.  Tonya is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas where she majored in Accounting.  Tonya also has a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law and has a CPA (inactive).

Tonya began work at the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney practicing law in the areas of tax consulting, tax litigation, corporate law, and general business law.  While practicing law, Tonya also developed and taught the Tax Clinic course at William Mitchell College of Law. 

Following Dorsey & Whitney, Tonya worked as a Senior Tax Attorney for Kimberly-Clark Corporation.  Kimberly Clark may be better known to you as the face of Kleenex®, Cottonelle®, and Huggies®.  Her general areas of practice were international, federal, and state tax planning and implementation.  Tonya specifically worked on projects including subsidiary formations, consolidations, transfer pricing, acquisitions, and tax return filings.

To be closer to her extended family, Tonya, her husband, and children decided to move back to Minnesota and to the St. Cloud area.   Tonya joined the faculty at CSB/SJU in the fall of 2006.  Tonya teaches Business Law, Business Writing & Communication, Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, and Advanced Accounting. 

Tonya enjoys spending time with her friends and family.  She is also a volunteer member of the Central Minnesota Catholic Charities Board of Directors and the St. Cloud Country Club Board of Directors.
