Biography:

David DeBlieck received his B.A. in Theatre from Augsburg College and his M.F.A. in Dance from the University of Hawaii. Before joining the CSB/SJU Theater Department in 2015, David taught both Theater and Dance at Augsburg University and Global Dance Perspectives at St Cloud State University. Currently, David teaches Intro to Modern Dance, Fundamentals of Dance, Dance Studies, Theatrical Dance Styles and the First-Year Learning Foundations course with the topic, Cultures of Dance. He also directs our biannual Dance Concert and the Music Department’s annual Opera Workshop. Additionally, David choreographs musical theater productions in our department including recent productions of Chicago, Next to Normal, Dancing at Lughnasa and Urinetown: the Musical. He has also choreographed productions with Pioneer Place Theater, GREAT Theater, Mixed Blood Theater, Red Eye Theater, Augsburg University and St Cloud State University. David recently performed with Patrick Scully in Leaves of Grass—Illuminated at the Guthrie Theater, and in the world premiere of Colossal at Mixed Blood Theater, selected by the Minneapolis Star Tribune as the top theater production of 2014.
