English as a Second Language (ESL) | English for Bilingual Students (EBS)

A panoramic view of the Brooklyn Bridge and New York City skyline at sunset. The iconic bridge spans the East River, with the city's skyscrapers, including One World Trade Center, in the background. The calm water reflects the warm hues of the setting sun.

How many languages do you know?

For multilingual students, the Language and Cultures Department offers academic English classes to strengthen the academic language and research skills expected in college classes: English as a Second Language (ESL 201, ESL 203) and English for Bilingual Students (EBS 201). Those courses may fulfill the Global Language Proficiency requirement for eligible students. *These classes also can count toward the Global Languages and Cultures (GLAC) minor.
