A person stands smiling on a boat with the London Eye and the River Thames in the background. They are wearing a red top and black skirt. The sky is partly cloudy.

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

It has always been my dream to live in another country, and I felt a huge pull towards the London program because of the ability to have an internship while I was there!

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.

Working in a small company in another culture had a profound impact on me because I gained new perspectives about my chosen field, and it allowed me to interact with people from different backgrounds from me on a daily basis.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

This study abroad experience has allowed me the freedom of living, studying, and working in another country without the pressures of making a huge move or life change. I’ve added so many great things to my résumé that I know will set me apart on future applications, and I’ve also gained so much independence and confidence in myself and my ability to handle new situations.

What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Explore your options early. There’s something for everyone, and you shouldn’t count yourself out just because of your major or your financial status. I received a lot of help through my application and leading up to my program which I was so grateful for.
