In our current times of political polarization, pandemics, economic uncertainty, and climate change effects, we also face another challenge—our mental health and the capacity for resilience in the face of all these challenges. As I was volunteering for my class to promote this year’s reunion it occurred to me that I might have something to share to help my fellow Johnnies and Bennies go through these challenging times with more peace of mind, creative responses, and enduring hope for our future. The key to this, in my experience, is how we respond to these challenges either from fear or resilience.

For the last 55 years my life’s work as a psychologist led me to discovering the true principles behind mental health and their link to spirituality. I have written seven books applying these Principles to addiction, relationships, stress, and most recently to the extreme challenges of Covid, political polarization, climate change, and the increasing stressors of modern society. In my interactive talk at the reunion I will share a brief introduction to how we create our moment to moment psychological experience through the underlying principles of Mind, Consciousness and Thought. Our birthright is innate mental health and by understanding how we create our moment to moment experience of life through these psychological principles, we are more able to access true peace of mind, serenity, and insightful responses to whatever life gives us.

You can learn more about my current book and others resources of mental well being/resilience on my website: https://www.joebaileyandassociates.com/. I hope you can join me and hopefully this might give us all some hope and creative responses to our current challenging times. I look forward to the reunion and seeing old friends and making new ones who have shared the valuable educational experience that St. John’s and St. Ben’s provided us with. I am a 1970 graduate of St. John’s University where I studied psychology.
