SJU Club Sports Funding Request Process Policy -- Effective July 12, 2009 1. Club Sports elected leadership (President/Vice President/Treasurer) must be in academic good standing and not on disciplinary probation. 2. Funded events must take place during the time period that begins two weeks before the start of the academic year and concludes two weeks after the end of the academic year. 3. All annual and spontaneous funding requests must be reviewed and approved by the St. John’s University Club Sports Commissioner prior to submission to the Co-Funding Board or Senate. Non-approved requests will be returned to the club, which could potentially result in a delay in the review of the request in a timeframe necessary for participation. 4. The Commissioner will review the allocation request within seven days of receiving the proposal. The proposal will be reviewed to determine appropriateness in regard to institutional mission and policy. The Commissioner has the right to request a meeting with the club leadership to clarify questions/concerns regarding the proposal. It is the club leadership’s responsibility to respond to the meeting request in a timely manner or risk non-approval by default. 5. Clubs have the right to appeal the Commissioner’s decision within five days of the determination. Appeals are heard by the St. John’s Dean of Students or his/her designee. Results of the appeal will be determined within two days of the appeal review. Clubs are responsible to respond to requests for information in a timely manner or risk non-approval by default. This set of procedures will be honored by SJU Athletics, SJU Student Development, Student Activities and Leadership Development and the SJU Senate as part of the club funding process.
