Alumna Katie Boylan to give address at Saint Ben’s commencement ceremony

Katie Boylan, a 1999 College of Saint Benedict graduate and executive vice president and chief communications officer for Target Corporation, will deliver the College of Saint Benedict commencement address at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11 in Clemens Field House on the CSB campus.

Boylan will address the 2024 Saint Ben’s graduating class of 344 undergraduate women and 14 nursing master’s and doctoral graduates.

Eileen Otto, a summa cum laude graduating political science major from Delano, Minnesota will be the student commencement speaker.

In her role at Target, Boylan leads the company’s internal and external communications, overseeing employee engagement, executive positioning and corporate, financial and brand communications. She also oversees Target’s corporate responsibility and sustainability team. Boylan joined Target in January 2011, and has held various communications leadership positions with the company.  

Prior to joining Target, Boylan was a senior vice president at Edelman, a global communications marketing firm. Earlier in her career, she held roles at Weber Shandwick and Burson Marsteller where she developed communications programming for leading companies such as Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Burger King, Land-O-Lakes and Hormel.  

In addition to her Target responsibilities, Boylan serves on the board for Second Harvest Heartland, one of the nation’s largest hunger relief organizations.
