Stories of Generosity

The thousands of alumnae, parents and friends like you who give each year in support of College of Saint Benedict students are the fuel that drives our mission.

With that backing, we’re able to create conditions in which every student can flourish. Thanks to you, this is a place…

• Where a student’s potential isn’t determined by her financial means.

• Where “listen,” the first word of the Rule of St. Benedict, calls all to listen with the ear of the heart, so that all can feel truly heard and included.

• Where all ideas are invited to the table, the small group discussion, the laboratory, the classroom, the stage … for examination, consideration and dissection.

• Where students learn critical thinking skills to apply to all areas of life.

Impact in Action

Alma Rodriguez ’25 fell in love with Saint Ben’s the moment she stepped on campus. As a first-generation college student, however, she had questions about how she would afford college.

“After I actually learned what I received, I couldn’t believe it,” she said. Scholarship support – made possible by gifts from Saint Ben’s alumnae and friends – made her college journey possible. “If I hadn’t received all of the financial aid I had received, I don’t think I would have gotten past my first year of college.”

Of course! Every gift adds up. Your gift and others like it combine to help address Saint Ben’s strategic priorities as well as providing scholarship and programming opportunities for deserving students. Our alumnae, parents, faculty, staff and students – giving at all levels – bring to life the Benedictine ideals of building community.

In addition to practical support that scholarship giving provides for students in need, gifts given by Saint Ben’s alumnae serve another important role. Bennie alumnae who participate, at any level, are helping Saint Ben’s with student recruitment, fundraising and overall reputation.

Saint Ben’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. The dates are used to compile giving totals and participation data. These metrics help us track goals and create our donor recognition lists.

For online gifts, check out the drop-down list and select a designation on the giving form. For checks, include a letter stating the intent or simply write where your designation in the memo portion of your check.

A matching gift is a benefit offered by many companies in order to encourage charitable contributions. When an employee gives, the employer matches on a one-to-one, two-to-one, or even a three-to-one basis. On our online giving form, search our database of employers to find out whether yours offers a match.
