Biography:

Steven Lemke uses sculpture, installation art and digital fabrication technology to speak to issues of land use, architectural production and community. He has received funding from the U.S. Department of State, the College Art Association, the Minnesota State Arts Board, the Central Minnesota Arts Board, the McKnight Foundation, the Nanovic Institute for European Studies and the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts. In 2016, he oversaw the Saint John’s University–Jerome Foundation Environmental Artist Fellowship in partnership with the Camargo Foundation in Cassis, France. Lemke holds an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Notre Dame, where his scholarship and teaching have been honored through the Riley Prize in Art History and Criticism and the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools Honorable Mention for Excellence in Teaching. In 2019, he was awarded a U.S. Fulbright Research Fellowship in Sculpture to examine socialist housing in the former Czechoslovakia and was an invited studio guest of the Sculpture in Architecture and 3D Virtual Space Program at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava. Lemke currently serves as Environmental Artist-in-Residence at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
