2026 Resident Artist

Born in Argentina and now based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Cucullu is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spanned painting, drawing, ceramics, and installation. His work explored memory, movement, and the interplay between personal and global spaces through layered imagery and mixed media.

During his residency, Cucullu focused on creating and exploring visual metaphors. He incorporated recurring motifs from his vessel designs into these new works. His residency offered a thoughtful and immersive exploration of connection, transition, and the everyday moments that shape us.

It is rare to encounter a residency that truly encourages artists to be themselves and explore what is possible during an extended period of uninterrupted studio time, free from excessive requirements. I was able to take full advantage of the many resources and opportunities offered by CSBSJU. The facilities and help available to me were exceptional, allowing me to immerse myself in a sustained period of making, experimentation, and innovation. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity, which has helped me grow both professionally and personally.
