Biography

David joined the CSB/SJU Theater Department in 2015, bringing with him a rich background in both theater and dance education. Prior to his arrival, he taught Theater and Dance at Augsburg University and offered courses in Global Dance Perspectives and Dance Composition at St. Cloud State University.

At CSB/SJU, David teaches a range of courses including Intro to Modern Dance, Fundamentals of Dance, Dance Studies, Aerial Acrobatics, Theatrical Dance Styles, and Learning Foundations–Cultures of Dance. He also directs the department’s biannual Dance Concert and the Music Department’s annual Vocal Performance Workshop.

David has choreographed numerous productions for the theater program including She Loves Me, Chicago, Next to Normal, Dancing at Lughnasa, and Urinetown: The Musical. Beyond campus, his choreography has been featured in productions with Sod House Theater, Pioneer Place Theater, GREAT Theater, Mixed Blood Theatre, Red Eye Theater, Augsburg University, and St. John’s Prep School.

David has performed recently with IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre (Honolulu), Sod House Theater, and as part of the GREAT Northern Festival in Minneapolis. He appeared with Patrick Scully in Leaves of Grass—Illuminated at the Guthrie Theater in 2019 and played a feature role in the world premiere of Colossal at Mixed Blood Theatre, which was named the top theater production of 2014 by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
