
The Power of Being the OTHER in the Room
Simmons graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in genetics and a minor in statistics. In 2017, Simmons made history at 23 years old, becoming the youngest female and the second-ever African American woman to work as a trader at the New York Stock Exchange in 225 years. The 2019 keynote was given by Lauren Simmons, past Vice President of Investment Risk at CTRL USA, a private investment company. Her lecture, titled “The Power of Being the Other in the Room,” connected her personal story with words of wisdom for CSB/SJU students.
