Program: Australia Semester, United Arab Emirates UN Climate Change Conference

Majors: Environmental Studies & Political Science

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

For the U.A.E., it aligned with my interests in renewable energy and political policy. Meeting world leaders and interacting with other young activists was an experience like no other!

Australia was the program that had classes that fit my major. Ironically, it also became my favorite country I’ve been to!

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.

When I did some solo travel to Melbourne over Easter, I had a picnic with a random Aussie family in the botanical gardens. We talked about life, history, our life experiences, and the connections that we have as people. It was one of the genuinely best days of my life.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

I now know I want to live abroad after graduation and it pushes you to think outside the box!

What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Make sure to have your financials in order, but it IS possible to study abroad! Also, you can take your major credits abroad; both CSB+SJU and your advisors are flexible.
