Connecting pre-health students to real-world experience 

HealthLink is an exciting chance to explore your possible future – with help from the remarkable Bennie/Johnnie alum network. All shadowing experiences will take place in person at the alum’s workplace or related setting. The typical shadowing commitment is 8-20 hours total, but may vary by alum/site.

How it works

Students get the chance to … 

• Browse the alum directory below – Select ONE health care alum you’d like to shadow.
  
• Complete your registration form – Complete this short form to confirm your selection. 
  
• Make contact – Reach out within one week of receiving your alum’s contact information. 
  
• Think in advance – Identify your personal goals for what you hope to learn and observe during the shadowing experience. 
  
• Check expectations – Confirm with your host and meet whatever onboarding requirements are in place for your shadowing site (e.g., background checks, vaccination documentation). 
  
• Respect the site – Be punctual, communicate early with your host and maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. 
  
• Shadow in person – Complete your shadowing within two months of making contact. 
  
• Show gratitude – Send a thank-you note to the alum who hosted you! 

No formal screening process 
Please note that alums are not formally screened to participate in this program. Instead, alums and students are responsible for discussing and addressing any site-specific requirements – such as background checks, vaccination documentation or other onboarding steps – needed before shadowing can begin.
