Professor
Boz Bostrom is a 1995 graduate of Saint John’s University, where he majored in Accounting and minored in Spanish. As a student, Boz played varsity football, earned 2nd Team Academic All-American honors, and studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Business Taxation from the University of Minnesota and has held an active CPA license since 1997.
Before returning to Saint John’s, Boz spent nine years in Big 4 accounting, specializing in international tax and finance. He was with Arthur Andersen during the Enron scandal—though, thankfully, he never worked on the Enron account. In 2004, he left Deloitte as a Senior Manager to join the faculty at Saint Ben’s and Saint John’s. He earned tenure in 2011 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2020.
Boz has taught 20 different courses, focusing on principles of accounting, tax, financial modeling, leadership, and private equity. His teaching style emphasizes student engagement and building real-world connections, and his efforts have earned him honors such as the 2021 Faculty Advisor of the Year and the 2020 Alumni Achievement Award.
In addition to teaching, Boz is a frequent speaker at conferences and corporate events across the country, where he presents on ethics, leadership, culture, recruiting and retention, and other topics. As the current Chair of the Minnesota Society of CPAs Board of Directors, Boz has been a driving force in modernizing CPA licensing requirements and reforming the “150-hour rule.”
Boz is the author of three books: A Legacy Unrivaled, chronicling the life of his close friend and legendary coach John Gagliardi; I Believe, a memoir co-written with Johnnie icon Bill Sexton; and The New Start, a novel that follows young auditor Johnny Fitch as he navigates an insider trading scandal.
Boz lives in Saint Joseph with his wife, Kacey, and two of their children, Wyatt and Sofia. In his free time, he enjoys live music, growing potatoes, perfecting chicken wing recipes, taking karate lessons from his son, and attending Saint Ben’s and Saint John’s events. He also has a strong following on LinkedIn, where he highlights the successes of his incredible students and promotes the ACCOUNTING brand.
