Rankings and Recognition

CSB was ranked No. 44 and SJU No. 72 among liberal arts schools in 2024 by Washington Monthly. Schools are rated based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research and public service.

The Institute of International Education in its 2024 Open Doors Report ranked CSB and SJU No. 20 among baccalaureate schools for participation in mid-length (semester) study abroad.

The report also found CSB and SJU tied for 17th for overall study abroad participation among baccalaureate schools.

CSB and SJU were included among America’s best colleges by Money Magazine in 2024, with a ranking of four-and-a-half out of five stars for each school. Money Magazine revamped its college ranking system into a star-tier list, based on quality of education, affordability and student outcomes.

CSB and SJU were also included in the Best Colleges in the Midwest category.

CSB and SJU are consistently ranked among the top national liberal arts colleges by U.S. News and World Report. In its 2025 rankings, CSB was No. 71 and SJU was No. 80.

Both CSB (No. 39) and SJU (No. 54) are listed among the best value schools.

The College of Saint Benedict was named one of the top producers of 2022-23 Fulbright scholarship recipients for the seventh time in nine years. CSB and SJU faculty work diligently to mentor students for these opportunities.

CSB and SJU have been granted non-governmental observer status to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. CSB and SJU are among a select few liberal arts schools to receive observer status.

CSB and SJU are members of the American Talent Initiative, a collective of 137 high-graduation-rate colleges and universities across the country devoted to access and success.
