Evin Hall was originally the monastery laundry, but was converted into a dormitory because housing space was needed. In 1981, the College leased the building and began reconstruction. The $1.125 million project meant that duplexes in St. Joseph and the aging Loretto Hall were no longer needed.
The new apartments were built to conserve energy and to house 130 students. Another part of the building was used for spiritual formation and monastic studies. The dedication for Evin Hall took place on September 19, 1981. The ceremony was conducted by the prioress, Sr. Katherine Howard. Evin Hall was named after Sr. Evin Rademacher, who was prioress of the monastery from 1973 to June 1981. A red maple was planted in front of the hall in Sr. Evin’s honor.

Today, half of Evin Hall serves as a Spirituality Center, directed by Sr. Rita Budig. The center offers many services and programs for students. A program called Centering Prayer is available from 4:20-4:50 every Monday through Friday to serve as a time for reflective prayer. A labyrinth, or a meditative prayer walk, is also part of the Spirituality Center. The Spirituality Center offers students a time for quiet reflection and an opportunity to pray.
