How do I apply for a Fellowship?

To apply for a fellowship:

  • Apply for admission to CSB/SJU.
  • Write an essay answering the following scholarship essay question: How has your ethnic background and/or your involvement with cultural activities in your school and community helped you to better appreciate diversity? How do you intend to use your knowledge and skills to further the CSB/SJU goal of deepening intercultural understanding?
  • Complete the Fellowship application. The application deadline is February 17, 2012.
  • Once the application for admission and essay have been received, candidates will be chosen to participate in on an campus interview in March. Applicants will be notified by February 22 if they have been selected for an interview. Candidates will interview with a faculty member and spend a day on campus with current CSB/SJU Intercultural Leadership, Education and Development Scholars. Scholars are chosen after the on-campus interview.
Criteria for selection:
  • Academic accomplishment
  • Community/school involvement and leadership
  • Graduate from a diverse, urban high school
  • Financial need
  • First-generation college student
  • Commitment to intercultural issues and actions
