New Director of Spiritual Direction Program

Samuel Rahberg is a husband and father of two who serves the Christian Church by supporting its leaders. He creates experiences and resources that help lay and ordained men and women meet the challenges of ministry, learn from them, and become more effective Christian leaders.

Through spiritual direction, individual and group ministerial reflection, and writing, Sam companions Christian leaders as they re-discover the sense of calling and giftedness at the heart of Christ-centered ministry. He is author of Enduring Ministry: Toward a Lifetime of Christian Leadership (Liturgical Press, 2017) and Ice Break: A Collection of Poems about Change. Sam served as the Director of the Benedictine Center of St. Paul’s Monastery from 2010-2020 and was the Associate Director from 2005-2010. He is an Oblate of St. Paul’s Monastery. Samuel also serves as an adjunct supervisor for the spiritual direction preparation program at the Franciscan Spirituality Center in La Crosse, where he trained as a spiritual director.

From 2000-2005 Samuel served as a Director of Christian Education for a Lutheran parish in St. Paul. He holds an M.A. in Theology from Saint John’s School of Theology•Seminary and a B.A. in Parish Education and Administration from Concordia University, Saint Paul. He completed the Foundations of Christian Leadership program sponsored by Duke Divinity and in 2013 was selected as a New Contemplative by Spiritual Directors International.
