Emmaus Hall - Classrooms and Gathering Spaces

Opening minds -

The Apostle Paul's reminder in Romans 12 of the importance for the renewal of the mind affirms the school's importance. Saint John's faculty and students live with the flaming desire to seek wisdom and truth. This constant flame is a leaven of hope and a spark for renewal across the globe when these great minds teach and serve the countless people they interact with inside and outside their communities. Come, be renewed at Saint John's Graduate School of Theology and Seminary.

Now on that same day, two of them were going to a village called Emmaus ...

The Emmaus story takes on added significance here at Saint John's graduate school. Our students move into (live in) Emmaus Hall, take classes in Emmaus, eat, pray and study in Emmaus. And faculty and staff are always headed over to Emmaus to class, meetings, meals, and to worship together. And just like the disciples who headed out of Jerusalem after the tragic death of their friend and teacher, we come here with questions, seeking wisdom and truth. The journey in theological education is akin to what these disciples discover: in ignorance and blindness it is Jesus who comes alongside us, walks with us, and teaches us. The great joy of teaching and learning at Emmaus is having one's eyes opened, recognizing Christ in Scriptures, in the bread and wine, and in his body, the Church gathering here in this place and everywhere.
