The SJU and CSB Alumni Associations are teaming up to bolster career networking resources.  Volunteer-driven programs, including a new "Job Search Series," aim to assist alumni, alumnae and CSB/SJU parents who are seeking new employment or considering a work change.

"It is not always the best talent that lands a role, but the person with the best brand," says Mark Richards '85 who coordinates two professional networking groups.  Richards has also developed a job search Web site (candidateschair.com), featured on the U.S. Department of Labor's Career Voyages site as well as at sjualum.com.

Our next series begins on Thursday, June 18, with "Marketing Yourself."  The session will provide practical advice on how to create your own brand.  Besides Richards, presenters include Tim Lebens '89, a branding and marketing specialist; career coach Judy Zimmer '84, and colleague Jeff Donnay from Salo/NumberWorks LLC.  There will also be human resources professionals available to review resumes.

  • Time:  June 18, 8 - 9:30 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30.
  • Location:  Olsen Thielen CPA offices, 2675 Long Lake Road, St. Paul (just off I-35W).
  • Attendees:  Alumni, alumnae and parents of CSB/SJU students.

All alumni are welcome at the networking happy hours every first Tuesday, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., at a rotating Twin Cities location.  All are encouraged to join Johnnies Connect and the CSB/SJU social networking groups to provide bridges with alumni around the globe.

Additional details, sites for the monthly happy hours and registration forms are available online or by calling the Alumni Office at 800-635-7303.
