New president of CSB+SJU set to visit campus

The first president of both the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University is about to get an up-close and in-person look at the two campuses when he visits April 4-6.

President Brian J. Bruess, Ph.D., who was named to the new post in mid-March, is scheduled to visit along with his wife Dr. Carol Bruess. They will tour both schools and meet with administrative and religious leaders, staff and campus organizations.

The new president will also take part in several meet-and-greet sessions for students, faculty, staff and members of the monastic communities. The schedule for the meet-and-greets is as follows:

For students:
  • Tuesday, April 5, 7:30-8:30 p.m., Brother Willie’s Pub located in Sexton Commons on the SJU campus
For faculty, staff and members of the monastic communities:
  • CSB – Monday, April 4, 3:30-5 p.m., Upper Gorecki 204AB
  • SJU – Tuesday, April 5, 3:30-5 p.m., Great Hall

A visit to the CSB and SJU Multicultural Center, located in Murray Hall on the CSB campus, is also part of the visit’s itinerary.

Since 2017, Bruess has served as president of St. Norbert College, a nationally renowned Catholic liberal arts school of more than 2,000 students in De Pere, Wisconsin.

Before that, he spent 21 years in a variety of roles at St. Catherine University, a Catholic liberal arts women’s institution in St. Paul. He last served as St. Kate’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.

He will start at CSB and SJU on July 1.
