Ron Baenninger will conduct a reading from his new book, In the Eye of the Wind: A Travel Memoir of Prewar Japan, on Wednesday, May 20 at Clemens Library, College of Saint Benedict, St. Joseph.

A reception begins at 4:30 p.m., with the reading at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and books will be available for purchase.

Baenninger, husband of CSB president MaryAnn Baenninger, co-wrote the book with his brother, Martin.

Their parents met in Yokohama, Japan, in 1933. Relying on Ron’s early memories, their mother’s diary and the memory of their father, the Baenningers recount the initial years of their parents’  marriage and provide glimpses into relations between Japan and the West from 1900 to the start of World War II.

Ron Baenninger taught psychology for nearly 39 years at Temple University, Philadelphia. He has been a visiting professor of psychology at CSB since 2005.
