For the first time ever, the College of Saint Benedict is ranked in the top 50 “best value” private liberal arts colleges, according to a recent survey released by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine. Only four other Minnesota institutions were included on this list.

According to Kiplinger’s Web site, “the “best value” list is derived by “measuring academic quality and affordability, with quality accounting for two-thirds of the total.” Some of the factors that were measured included admission rate, ACT scores, student per faculty ratio, graduation rate and various financial aid benchmarks.

“While it is important to understand that rankings are not the sole indicator of institutional value or success, it is nonetheless very rewarding to see CSB on a list among many exceptional liberal arts institutions nationally,” said MaryAnn Baenninger, president of CSB. “This ranking demonstrates CSB’s commitment to our students and their families to provide the best possible education at an affordable price.”
