Many people know that the College of Saint Benedict is a special place.

On Wednesday, Oct. 3, nearly 1,000 donors proved just how special CSB is as the school achieved its biggest day of giving to date.

A total of $432,424.74 was raised during Give CSB Day, a 24-hour period where money raised will fund scholarships for current and future CSB students.

  • The 967 donors who made 1,016 gifts came from 40 states and three countries;
  • The average gift size was $208.89 (excluding the matching fund donors). The largest gift was $10,000;
  • A total of 18 challenge fund donors contributed to create the $225,000 match;
  • The oldest alumna gift was from the Class of 1946, and 24 current students also contributed.

“Alumnae, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends of the college came together to make a statement with their philanthropic dollars,” said Maggie Weber Utsch ’00, director of annual giving at CSB. “They invested in Saint Ben’s and the women who study here who are changing the world.

“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and generosity from our community,” Utsch added. “A senior (student), who also made a gift said, ‘I would not be able to attend CSB if it weren’t for the generosity of our donors. As a prospective alumna, I want to give Bennies the opportunity to obtain a valuable education that prepares them to think critically, lead courageously and advocate passionately.’

“At the end of the day, this is what it is all about,” Utsch added.
