Valerie Doze’s interest in German language and culture, as well as her hope to work with German-speaking countries regarding climate-health policy through knowledge sharing and collaborations, led her to add a second major in German to her biochemistry major. She is pursuing a career at the intersection of climate change and public health. Doze has traveled to Poland to participate in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. She has traveled to Boston to take part in the Harvard Model United Nations. She has spent two summers interning (in epigenetics/neuroscience and in molecular biology) at the University of North Dakota. And she has traveled to Arlington, Virginia, for an internship in the CSB/SJU Washington, D.C., Summer Study Program, where she was able to learn more about international trade policy. Doze loves pursuing a liberal arts education and is thankful for the opportunities to be involved on campus, especially with Climate Justice Club. She was recently named a 2020 Truman Scholar.
