One thing that makes Emma Solheim a remarkable student is the degree to which she works at it. “It took me hours of seeking help from tutors, visiting open lab times and reaching out to professors,” she said. Ellen Block, assistant professor of sociology, explained that “she always works hard at things, seeking extra help and doubling down on her effort.” It has led her to a GPA of 3.97 in the demanding nursing major. Solheim was selected as a nursing teaching assistant and is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. She has been a hospital volunteer, a certified lifestyle coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program and a yoga instructor, among many other activities and organizations.
