The Great Book Club Gathering, an assembly of book club members from Central Minnesota, will take place from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 6 in the Gorecki Dining and Conference Center, College of Saint Benedict.

This event aims to celebrate the love of reading in Central Minnesota.  There are roughly 50 active book clubs locally, some of which have been together for decades. This event will provide attendees with an opportunity to form new group connections or for existing book clubs to learn how to expand and excel.

Readers will be given the opportunity to examine a wide selection of new books to consider for their group. The program will feature a reading from author Danielle Sosin and a panel presentation on how to organize and sustain a book club, with opportunities for questions afterward. Food and beverages will be available and there will be prize giveaways throughout the evening. The event is free and open to the public.

Sosin will read from her novel The Long-Shining Waters, for which she won the 2011 Milkweed National Fiction Prize. Her fictional work has been published in the Alaska Quarterly Review and has been recorded for National Public Radio's Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story, and Iowa Public Radio's Live from Prairie Lights.

The event is co-hosted by the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University Libraries and the CSB President's Office, with assistance from Literary Arts Institute at CSB, CSB/SJU Bookstores, Graywolf Press, St. Cloud Friends of the Library and Barnes&Noble's St. Cloud store.
