Classics Alumni Updates

Here are some updates from our alums in 2022!

Will Breen ’13 attended Mayo Medical School and is now a Radiation Oncologist at Mayo Clinic. He notes, “I met my wife Julia in Scott’s Great Books class.”

—Something fun: “We have a two-year-old son named Gus.”

Tessa Pichotta ’20 is Project Sustainment Manager at MME Group Inc. She was the recipient of the Kay Wolsborn Civic Engagement Award.

—Something fun: “I can read Braille and my favorite book is The Secret History by Donna Tartt.”

Michael Macken ’16 is a Commercial Insurance Underwriter. He graduated magna cum laude and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

—Something fun: “I met my wife in Scott's Latin class!”

Olivia (Busch) Langley ’18 is a Latin and Language Arts Teacher at Calvary Classical Academy. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

—Something fun: “I enjoy traveling and adventure. My husband and I visited Alaska and enjoyed hiking, kayaking, and exploring its vast wilderness!”

Leita Strei ’14 earned her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Hamline University (2021) and is a Preschool Teacher with ISD728. She graduated magna cum laude.

—Something fun: “I have a nearly-three-year-old shepherd puppy named River, and I volunteer with Lyric Arts Main Street Stage in Anoka, MN.”

Anna Katharina Pilsbacher ’12 holds a M.Sc. in Biology with a focus on arctic plant ecology and M.A. in theoretical linguistics from UIT—The Arctic University of Norway. She is currently completing a Ph.D. in theoretical linguistics at UIT and the Università degli Studi di Verona, where she focuses on morpho-phonology and works on Germanic languages as well as Attic Greek.

—Something fun: “I have training in order to correctly respond during a polar bear attack.”

Beatrice Zovich ’11 earned a Master of Public Health from Temple University (2018) and is Public Health Program Manager at the Hepatitis B Foundation. Previously, she was a Community Development Field Fellow with Profugo Social Ventures in Valad, India (2019).

—Something fun: “I can read Ancient Greek. :) I also run half marathons!”

Tommy Benson ’17 holds a J.D. from University of San Diego School of Law and is an International Tax Associate at Ernst & Young LLP.

—Something fun: “I love to annoy people by reading the Latin phrases on the walls of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.”

Josh StGeorge ’13 earned an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Minnesota (2015) and is Operations Trainer at software company Sovos. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

Jac Mateja ’21 is a Quality Assurance Tester at Activision Publishing. He completed an internship at the Hill Museum and Manuscript Library (HMML) and is among those credited for the video game “Call of Duty: Cold War.”

—Something fun: “I love all things video games, movies, television, sports, and of course ancient antiquity! I can speak English and Greek, with a bit of work in the Latin field, and can't wait to visit Greece and Rome someday!”
