Program: Italy

Major: Elementary Education

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I wanted to see a new culture and see what Italy had to offer. I have family heritage also in Italy, so it was very easy to make the decision to go there due to this.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.

I believe that this experience has shown me a new perspective on other people and a different way of life. It also showed me that I can do something like this.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

It was challenging but good for me to be able to experience this. I was able to grow as a person and figure things out on my own. The experience was so enjoyable and being able to understand that sometimes it was hard but I made it through and I enjoyed it was what I took away from it.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

I think spending the semester abroad made me realize and understand a different culture and doing it for a long period of time made it easier. I was able to learn more and make the most out of my experience.

What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Do it. If you have any thoughts about doing it, do it. You won’t regret it.
