Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?

I chose to study abroad in Greece because I have always been interested in their culture and history. I also knew how welcoming their citizens are and wanted to immerse myself in their way of life.

Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your program that made a lasting impression.

One experience I had during my Athens program was talking to a Greek citizen about being able to study abroad. He used to go to a University in Athens but had to drop out and start working, but he was explaining that he was happy that I chose Greece as my study abroad destination and would not choose to live anywhere else despite his circumstances. It made me appreciate the opportunities I have and fall in love with the country and people in Greece more.

Describe your overall study abroad experience.

My overall experience was amazing, and I would not trade it for the world. There were tough times, but this was the best decision I made. The group that I was with was amazing, and Greece is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I learned so much about Greece and its history but also grew so much as a person as well.

Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?

One of the benefits of a semester abroad is that you meet amazing people from your school. You immerse yourself into a different culture. It made me grow as a person, and it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

What advice can you offer for CSB+SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Some advice I would give is to make sure you adventure as much as you can and get to know some of the residents there. They will tell you everything you need to know and are some of the nicest people ever. Another thing is to try to do as much as you can. You may never have this opportunity again, and you want to have the most fulfilling time abroad.
