Seeking Licensure
For students pursuing a Minnesota teaching in 5-12 Communication Arts and Literature Education, Minnesota Teacher Licensure Examinations are also required. Students must complete the following exams:
- Pedagogy: Secondary
- Content: Communication Arts and Literature, grades 5-12
For more information regarding licensing, please see Apply for Licensure. Additional questions regarding licensing can be directed to the Program Coordinator. Teacher candidates are reminded of MTLEs prior to student teaching and receive instructions on the application to their license near the completion of their student teaching experience. It is recommended that teacher candidates complete the MTLEs for their applicable license just prior to student teaching. Spring student teachers should be especially proactive in registering early for these examinations.
