The College of Saint Benedict rugby team is no stranger to success.
The club program, which dates back to 1978, won the Minnesota Division III state championship in the fall of 2009, elevating the program to Division II status. In the fall of 2011, after placing second at the Minnesota Division II state championship, the team advanced to compete at the Midwest Sweet 16 in Champaign, Illinois.
The club is open to everyone, no matter their level of experience. The goal is to provide participants the opportunity to empower themselves through athletics, discover newfound skills and develop lifelong friendships.
Practices during the season are usually held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the grass intramural fields at the CSB Athletic Complex near Centennial Commons. Those interested should bring cleats, workout clothes and their desire to have a good time.
