The CTL offers confidential consultation on any aspect of teaching and learning.

Consultation topics might include course design, resources to support a pedagogical innovation you want to try out in class, incorporating inclusive teaching techniques, addressing a puzzling issue or difficult dialogue that arose in class, reviewing student feedback, and so on.

Faculty can also arrange for the CTL to conduct a classroom observation or small group analysis in one of their classes. 

The CTL offers confidential classroom observations. Our teaching observations are formative rather than evaluative in nature and are intended to help support faculty reflect on their teaching and their students’ learning.  

Faculty members might request a teaching observation for general feedback, when trying out a particular teaching strategy, or just to get support in generating new ideas to help them more effectively meet their teaching objectives. 

A Small Group Analysis (SGA) is a confidential service designed to provide instructors with early formative feedback from students around the midpoint of the semester. A CTL consultant visits your class and gathers data from students about what aspects of the course/instruction are helping students to learn and what modifications to the course/instruction would help them to learn more effectively.

These opportunities are aimed at supporting faculty as they develop and refine their approach to teaching. Participants can receive digital badges for attending CTL sponsored workshops and seminars. Faculty members who attended a designated number of workshops and reflect on how they applied what they learned to their teaching are eligible for a teaching certificate.
