Janean Kleist is an associate professor of accounting and finance.  She has a BA in accounting from Luther College, a Masters of International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from the University of Minnesota.

Janean led the executive compensation team for the past 10+ years at Medtronic. Prior to Medtronic, she headed the executive compensation unit at 3M, and also worked as a compensation consultant with Towers Perrin.  She launched her career in public accounting with KPMG and also has corporate accounting experience with NCR Corporation.  Just ahead of starting her Ph.D. program, she taught accounting and finance at Luther College.

Janean enjoys reading, running, cards and board games and the challenge of keeping up with her husband and teenage triplet boys.
