Langlauf Nordic Ski Race

Sunday, January 17, 2016 | Saint John's University

In the interest of the safety of our racers and volunteers as well as international ski standards, we unfortunately have to cancel the 2016 Langlauf.

Cold Weather Planning

We are closely following the forecast for cold for this Sunday's race. The International Ski Federation (scroll to page 82) recommends delay or cancelation if the temperature falls below -25 degrees celsius (-13 degrees farenheit). Under the current forecast for Collegeville, we currently plan to host the race as scheduled. All racers will be notified by 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 16 if the race is canceled.

  • Thanks to our dedicated trail groomer, Steve Lindvall, we still have moderate to good groomed trails despite the limited snow. View ski trail updates with the latest information on grooming and conditions on the Outdoor U Blog.

Abbey Arboretum

Saint John's Abbey Arboretum is more than 2,500 acres of lakes, prairie, oak savanna and forest owned by Saint John's Abbey and surrounding Saint John's University. Approximately 20K of trails are groomed for both skate and classic skiing during a typical season. Learn more about the ski trails.

Clemens Football Stadium

A natural bowl formed when a cranberry marsh was drained in 1908 for construction of the football field. All races will begin and end within the football stadium, a great venue for both racing and cheering.

Warner Palaestra/Donald McNeely Spectrum

Donald McNeely Spectrum is an indoor fieldhouse within the Warner Palaestra athletic facility. Registration/check-in and the awards ceremony will take place in the spectrum. The indoor space will also be available for families and spectators to warm up, let the kids run around and enjoy concessions available for purchase that day. The spectrum has direct access to the football field, making it easy for racers and spectators alike.

Concessions available for purchase or you can bring your own lunch/snacks.
