Despite quake, Minnesota students head to China

US-China Business Connections (UCBC)

UCBC hosts monthly breakfast networking meetings with presentations on issues relating to doing business between the U.S. and China. Monthly meetings are scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 am. Free for college students (otherwise $20). EVENT CALENDAR

The Asian Studies Program would like to send its sincere condolences to those affected by the earthquake in the Sichuan province. The CSB/SJU Administration has dispatched a message of condolence and support on behalf of our institutions to our friends in China.

Asian Studies Individualized Major Jon Keillor Presents at National Conference on Undergraduate Research

Jon Keillor (SJU 08) gave a presentation titled, "Rethinking Violent Extremism" at the 22nd annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland. Jon's project focused on reinterpreting violent religious extremism using a deep-rooted cultural analysis to help us better understand these movements. Jon's research specifically focused on the Hakka cultural influence on the Taiping Rebellion, a seminal movement in Chinese history. Jon was one of four presenters selected to give oral presentations under the category of "Asian Studies."
