What program is right for me?
Whether you are looking for professional development or personal enrichment, Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary offers non-degree opportunities for those interested in engaging in scholarship with fellow minister and seekers. These shorter programs or classroom opportunities are a great way to gain knowledge or practice your skills in a particular theological area, or can act as a starting point for your discernment in graduate theological education.
Certificates and non-degree programs are offered in-person, online, and through hybrid learning.

Certificate in Spiritual Direction
Comprised of 12 credits in core theology and 10 credits in the art and skills of spiritual direction, including an eight-month practicum, this certificate prepares people in ministry to serve as spiritual directors within faith communities.

Certificate in Benedictine Spirituality
This 15 credit hour Graduate Certificate in Benedictine Spirituality program brings together practical application of the Rule of Saint Benedict and historical reflections on the development of Benedictine life, spirituality, and practices.

Certificate in Ministry
Coupled with a variety of formation opportunities and coursework in theology and ministry, the Certificate in Ministry deepens a learners understanding of the theological tradition, especially as it relates to pastoral and ministerial practices.

Certificate in Theology
Explore one of five theological fields in this flexible 18 credit certificate. Students can expand their knowledge and coursework in focus areas such as Liturgy, Systematic Theology, Church History, Scripture, Spirituality, or Monastic Studies. This graduate certificate program can be done entirely online.

Sabbatical
A Sabbatical at Saint John’s allows participants to immerse themselves in the Collegeville experience and select from a variety of courses. Sabbatical participants must register for at least six non-degree credits each term. Contact the Office of Admission for more information: [email protected]

Continuing Education
Individual courses are available without filling out an application. Continuing Education serves as an opportunity for professional development or an opportunity for lifelong learners to explore an area of interest.
