March 20 Residential Life Update

Dear Students,

In light of today’s announcement to suspend in-person classes through the end of spring semester, you may be left with a number of questions regarding your housing situation. Please read this entire message to get more information about what your next steps should be.

Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, our ability to continue to house and support students living on campus is severely limited. Therefore, all students are now required to make other housing plans. We understand that some students may not be able to return to their home country/permanent home address, but we are asking you to consider all options for housing arrangements, and to make plans immediately to leave campus.

Residence halls and apartments at CSB|SJU will close for spring semester on Wednesday, March 25 at 5PM.

Just as we requested last Friday, all students currently on campus must fill out an online form informing the institutions of your plans to depart. That form can be found here: and should be completed as soon as possible.

Students with critically extenuating circumstances (students who do not have any other place to go) need to indicate that on this form. You will be connected with a staff member who will work with you to find a solution. All students should begin packing their belongings now.

Additionally, any student who has a financial barrier to traveling to an off-campus destination is eligible to apply for assistance from CSB|SJU. If this applies to you, and you would like more information, please reach out to:

Please note that any students who remain on campus past Wednesday, March 25 will be relocated into one area.

From now through March 25, all policies and expectations put into place effective Wednesday regarding guests, social events and disease prevention remain in effect.

Please do not reply to this e-mail, rather contact the staff listed above.

We are so sorry to see your time on campus for this semester end so suddenly and sadly—please reach out to your RD/AC (CSB) or FR (SJU) if there is anything we can do to support you during this time. Please know that counseling services are also available to you, whether you are on campus or at home.
