How did you find out about your internship/fellowship/etc.? I found out about these opportunities through LinkedIn.

What were your responsibilities at your internship/fellowship/etc.? At the City of Sartell, I have been responsible for creating templates used within the city government for several different departments. I have was thankful to be offered learning time with Adobe which will be very useful in the future. I have been creating other documents that deal with the processes of hiring and firing as well through Adobe.

At the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, I have been working with the economic development team and have been assisting their grant programs. I have been reaching out to other foundations to gather information on their procedures. I have also interviewed SCORE volunteers in the area to better understand all of what they do for the community. I have also created surveys and gathered information for our AmeriCorps division. The Initiative Foundation has helped me gather great research skills for the professional world.

What was the most beneficial aspect of your experience? The people that I have made connections with. Their philanthropy program has assisted many young entrepreneurs towards becoming successful members of the business world.

How can you apply what you experienced at your internship/fellowship/etc. in the future? I have learned great communications skills in my time as an intern. I have gained the ability to have strong conversation through the phone or zoom. I have also gained experience in certain software platforms like Adobe through my experience. I also understand better the types of environments these types of places I work for provide.

What advice would you offer to future students interested in this experience? This is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience into the professional world before you graduate. This experience has been well worth the time. Every one should apply for this great opportunity!
