Answer The Call

Embrace your opportunity to progress the Christian faith in a life-long pursuit of wisdom, grounded in the 1,500-year history of Benedictine values at one of North America’s most respected graduate programs in theology.

SoT Mission

Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary, rooted in the Roman Catholic and Benedictine traditions and Saint John’s Abbey’s ecumenical and liturgical heritage, fosters study and prayer in a community of learners. We commit ourselves to academic, spiritual, pastoral, and professional formation to serve the church in lay and ordained ministry, using our diverse gifts to transform our world.

Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary is a place to open the Word of God, see Christ in others, and take on new experiences and challenges.

Unique campus experience with architecturally inspiring buildings spread over 3,300 acres of lakes, forest, and prairie.

Dedication to a life-long pursuit of wisdom so we might progress in Christian faith and “run on the paths of God’s commandments, our hearts expanding with the inexpressible delight of love” (Prologue, Rule of Benedict).

A Hidden Gem

Our faculty, humble as they are, are made of some of the most published and well-regarded leaders — some of our faculty consults directly with the Vatican, for example. You learn with them directly, never from student teachers. Our hands-on learning contextualizes the world, offering an exceptional way to serve God and the communities you’ll encounter throughout your life. We want you to deeply understand your sense of self as you participate in this experience — you are, after all, created uniquely yourself in God’s eyes. It’s part of why we have become one of the most respected graduate programs in theology.
