The Afterlife: Is There a Heaven? Is There a Hell?
Fr. Dale Launderville, OSB, Ph.D.
Will we see again our loved ones who have passed away? Is there a place after death where we as individuals will survive and connect once again with the people and relationships that shape our lives in the here-and-now? Stories of those with near-death experiences have captured the attention of many in our time. How do these experiences align with accounts in the Bible on life-after-death? How does belief in the afterlife influence the way we live in the here-and-now?
Fr. Dale Launderville, OSB, serves as dean of Saint John's School of Theology and Seminary. He received his Master of Divinity from Saint John's in 1979 and a doctorate from The Catholic University of America in 1987. His latest book, published by Liturgical Press in 2010, is Celibacy in the Ancient World. He is currently writing a two-volume commentary on the book of Ezekiel to be published by Eerdamns.

A typical Theology Day consists of registration and refreshments, followed by a period of conversation/presentation/lecture. The conversation then continues as participants are given a chance to continue their discussions with one another. Morning presentations at Emmaus Hall are followed by a complimentary lunch for all participants, and most evening sessions include refreshments.
There is no fee for Theology Day, but registration is required. Free-will offerings and gifts to support the mission of the School of Theology and Seminary are gratefully accepted.
