Monasticism: Soul of the New Evangelization
June 28 - July 2, 2015
For many, the New Evangelization is synonymous with deepening faith believing in the Gospel, and going forth to proclaim the Gospel. Does the monastic life, then, rooted in contemplation and Christian traditions hundreds of years old, have anything to offer this movement? The 30th Annual Monastic Institute will explore this question and answer it with an ecstatic affirmative: monasticism as the very soul of the New Evangelization. The prophetic witness of monastic lives, fashioned in a radically simple and stable pursuit of holiness, offers a vibrant counter-testimony to the increasingly fast and shifting culture of our times.
