Virtues For Community Building

These three conversations, facilitated by talented pastoral leaders, focus on a particular virtue integrally related to building community.

In each conversation the facilitator will frame the question, engaging participants’ experience as they explore implications for pastoral practice.

Each conversation will be held at Lumen Christi Parish in Highland Park/St. Paul. Refreshments available at 9:30. The session begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at noon.

Topic: How does individual, group, and communal courage enable people to engage more deeply the work of building and sustaining community?

Facilitator: Virginia Stillwell

Virginia Stillwell serves as Pastoral Associate for Liturgy and Worship at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Eagan, MN. She holds Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Theology degrees from Saint John's University School of Theology and Seminary and is a longtime participant in Conversatio Programs at St. John's. She has worked in various parish ministries, taught undergraduate theology for the University of St. Thomas and for diaconate and lay formation programs, and led diocesan workshops and parish retreats on aspects of liturgy, initiation, and the scriptures. Virginia is a past team member for the North American Forum on the Catechumenate and has written "Living the Word," reflections on the Sunday scriptures and "Priestless Parishes: The Baptized Leading the Baptized," an exploration of the theology and principles of ecclesial ministry. She was a contributor to the first volume of Illuminating Ministry (Liturical Press, 2010).

Each conversation is a separate event. A person can register for one or more. The cost per session is $10 or $20 for all three.
