Accompanying Assignments

Please feel free to download these and alter them for your classroom purposes. In general, I have designed them for small to medium-sized classrooms but they can be adapted to suit your needs.

Ideal vs. practice activity

This activity involves both in-class discussions and work that should be completed outside of class time, and makes a good companion to the book Infected Kin. It helps students better understand anthropological methods, and gets at the useful insights that can be gained by comparing what people say and what they do.

Themed group discussion project

This group discussion helps students have in-depth, structured conversations around themes present in Infected Kin.  The discussion can be adjusted for one or two class periods, or can be used to discuss the whole book over the course of two weeks.
