The SJU rugby team finished third in the National Small College RugbyOrganization tournament April 26 at Infinity Park, Glendale, Colorado.

The SJU rugby team finished third in the National Small College RugbyOrganization tournament April 26 at Infinity Park, Glendale, Colorado.

The Johnnies dropped a back-and-forth, 55-45 match to Mount St. Mary's (Maryland) in the semifinals, but came back to down the California Maritime Academy 38-5 in the third-place match. Saint John's had won the last two small college national titles.

Three Johnnies were named to the 15-man all-tournament team - second row player Zachary Muehlenbein (senior, biology major, Rochester, Minnesota), wing Jack Luke (senior, chemistry major, Baxter, Minnesota) and wing Tanner Hersch (senior, sociology major, Bismarck, N.D.). Nick Mans (senior, natural science major, Nicollet, Minnesota) received the team's "Heart and Soul" award for his contributions to the success of the team on or off the field.
